I was just reading an article today on Yahoo Finance titled, Professional Women Choosing Flexibility over Higher Pay. I found it very interesting as 9 Months ago, I chose flexibility over higher pay. Making that choice for me was one of the best things that I could have done. Having 2 kids, a house, a husband and many more things to juggle in my daily life, makes having the flexibility and ideal situation for me. Flexibility for me means, working a part-time job.
Working a Full-Time job which for me was, highly stressful and demanding, is not something I would like to do again. Although, if I had the opportunity to make my current Part-Time job Full-Time I would jump right on it. The difference now being that my job is:
About a year ago I wrote about, Running to the Bus, which talks about how watching my son run to his bus each morning motivated me to look for something different, something more.
With all that being said, I definitely would choose or prefer flexibilty over higher pay $$, because I have done just that. After leaving my job I was home for 2 1/2 months and I really enjoyed having that time to spend with my kids and manage our home more effictively. I do know that flexibility is not always an option and sometimes money is not a choice but a need for our families.
