Sad to say….I am back from our annual Family Vacation to Virginia Beach! We took a 3 day trip to Virginia Beach with hubby’s family and had a great time. Virginia Beach is one of our favorite vacation spots, because we have family that we get to visit on the way. This years trip was a little different. For one we took a new route. Instead of taking 95 South, we went on Rte. 13 which takes you on the 13 mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. I have to say that this route was a little bit better because if you have to make a stop, which is more frequent when you have kids, you don’t have to get off an exit and make your way through traffic to your fast food and/or gas destination. This new route, also had less traffic. Usually on 95 we get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and our youngest gets antsy when we are not moving.
We also stayed at a new hotel on the other end of the bech. Last year we stayed at The Courtyard Marriot, which we loved, on the North end of the Beach. This year we stayed at The Hampton Inn Virginia Beach-Oceanfront South. The hotel was nice but I think I prefer The Courtyard Marriot, but liked Hampton enough that I would stay there again.
One other thing that we did on this trip that we never did was, ride the bike on the boardwalk (as you see pictured above). I don’t really know what they are called so I will call them bikes because we had to pedal. It was very fun, but also produced much sweat. My husband and I really got a workout pedaling that bike. The kids were like go faster, go faster…we were like we are pedaling as fast as we can…lol! I would definitely recommend it. It cost $15 for 1 hour, not too bad, but we definitely didn’t last an hour.
Well, the vacation is over and we had a blast. Can’t wait till we get back to the beach…but for now, back to reality:) Where does your family like to vacation??
